Based on Stephen King's novella CYCLE OF THE WEREWOLF, SILVER BULLET concerns a small mountain community terrorized by a half-man/half-beast of folklore. After an encounter with the murderous werewolf, wheelchair-bound Marty Coslaw (Corey Haim) becomes saddled with the unfortunate knowledge of the beast's human alter ego. With some help from his sister (Megan Follows), his goodhearted alcoholic uncle (Gary Busey), and his turbo-charged wheelchair, he sets out to rid the town of the murderous scourge. King also wrote the screenplay. (jakelijan virallinen teksti)

englanti Shooting a werewolf on the road with a motorized wheelchair sounds tempting, but I assume none of the parts are made of silver, so let’s return to the tried-and-true projectiles of that material. Favorite King elements set within a lycanthropic framework, variably impressive action-horror moments, and quite decent prosthetics (although it’s true that the werewolf in all its glory looked like “Smokey Bear with a terrible hangover”). The grinning Uncle Busey, stepfather O'Quinn, the Neanderthal forehead of Father McGill, and the dad of Nice Guy Eddie with a peacekeeping baseball bat make for quite a decent acting family. Surprisingly, I didn’t even wish for Corey Haim’s head to roll off the loading ramp. ()

englanti The American film Silver Bullet is an enjoyable old movie with those 80s vibes that can get under your skin, but it also has some great characters. The child protagonists may not be your cup of tea, but they are very well cast, plus they are believable, and the same goes for their relationships. The movie works very well, and I regret waiting for it for so long. I really wish I had seen this movie back in the day. ()
