Hirviöt - Dahmer

Evan Peters is a chameleon of an actor! He really can immerse himself into any role. Simply a generational talent through and through! Thanks to him, I was able to fully enjoy the series. It can be summed up with one term: ONE MAN SHOW. However, Peters is closely followed in his performance by Niecy Nash, who plays Dahmer’s neighbor. And I can’t overlook Richard Jenkins either. The series also dedicates significant attention to the victims and their families, which I think is the right decision. Throughout the viewing, you get goosebumps whenever Dahmer appears on screen. Also, kudos for not shying away from showing the many mistakes made by the police and justice system. But unfortunately, I can’t stay solely in superlatives. What bothered me a bit was that the series sometimes seemed to try to elicit sympathy for Dahmer. Sure, his childhood was far from ideal, but that’s not such a rare situation. So I didn’t quite understand this choice. Overall, despite some minor criticisms, it’s an excellent miniseries led by a convincing Peters. I’m curious to see how the documentary compares. I want to make a mental comparison. For me, it’s 8/10. P.S. Fincher’s Mindhunter is a level above ;) (04.12.2022)
