Is this the same Sollima who did Sicario 2 and is an expert on European gangster movies? The beginning still looked promising, the protagonist is at a disgusting gay party full of drugs and alcohol, where he is tasked with filming a minister, blackmailed by the cops, only he fails to complete the task and goes on the run. And then the whole film staggers in place, offers nothing of interest (no action, no violence, no twists) it doesn't go anywhere story-wise and as a result you are so fed up with the film that you just want it to end. Ugh, this was an uncomfortable movie. If there's one thing I can't stand, it's oppressive heat, and the filmmakers from the Apennine Peninsula managed to bring it right through my screen. It was quite a crafty move on their part. The shady law enforcement, the trio of the blind, the dumb, and the dying, the heat, power outages, a massive fire, and especially that sweat-stained tank top created such an unpleasant atmosphere that I felt like I could almost smell the stench. The story itself was straightforward and predictable. The creators didn’t try to add any twists or elevate it in any way, so it progressed as expected. I had no trouble guessing how it would end, and that predictability was its biggest weakness (aside from not having anyone to root for). I wasn't bored, but I wasn't thrilled either. / Lesson learned: You'd be surprised where a single act of fellatio can lead someone... (13.05.2024)
