Vera liked to help people in need, a helpless neighbour, an elderly mother and... unwillingly pregnant girls. Her life was idyllic. But all good things come to an end, and Vera's whole world falls apart in one day, bringing tragedy those closest to her. Now it's up to how everyone will deal with the bad news. Vera Drake is a solid drama from an excellent British production, lead by the performance of Imelda Staunton, who was rightfully nominated for an Oscar. The film offers a powerful story of a kind-hearted woman who believed she was doing good. If it weren't for the inconclusive ending, I would have given it a full rating.
