Hostel: Part II

Kakkososa oli mielestäni paljon ykköstä hauskempi. Sain, mitä halusinkin: Kovis-Kňažkon ja kuolleen Bijoun. Lisäansioiksi luen futiksen, ?achticen naisen, mustalaislapsen (ei-rasistisen) teloituksen, Richard Burgin... En tiedä, miten tähän elokuvaan vaikuttaisi parempi käsikirjoitus (!!!), ehkä se täyttäisi ontot kohdat ja tekisi lopusta vähemmän kliseisen. (17.11.2007)

The higher budget paradoxically did the sequel harm, because the better quality of the technical aspect makes Eli Roth’s lack of skills as both screenwriter and director all the more glaring. His attempts at psychologizing on the subject of crime and guilt do not deserve any comment. It makes one recall the first instalment with nostalgia – horrible it might be, but it is also entertainingly cheap and silly. (20.05.2011)

A bit worse than the first Hostel, but with some very good scenes. Overall, it’s a slightly above-par film that shouldn’t disappoint fans of the exploitation subgenre. The ending is quite impressive. (24.12.2007)

Again, absolutely idiotic, but still better than the first installment. During the scene of the dramatic march towards the beginning of the torture, with Slovak folk music in the background, I had an uncontrollable fit of laughter, just like when I realized that I knew both torturers from Desperate Housewives, and seeing them in such supporting roles, which they both enjoyed to an almost perverse degree, was truly an experience. However, I can't go higher than an unserious one-star rating. The whole concept of Slovakia and the extremely stupidly graded story is disgraceful. (04.07.2007)
