Miranda

I’m still not entirely sure how I feel about Miranda after the first season. It’s absolutely ridiculous, but at the same time, so much fun to watch. It’s awkward, yet I haven’t laughed this hard at a show like this in a while. Miranda is just... unique. I’m tempted to give it five stars, but for now, it’s sitting at four, probably because it takes a bit to really get into. Every time I debate watching another episode, I know I’ll end up laughing, and sure enough, I do. It keeps getting funnier, and I’m genuinely curious to see where it goes next. (13.03.2012)

This is what I call a bloody waste of talent. Miranda hides a massive comedy talent inside her (which is saying something in view of her proportions). She really knows how to be funny. Just a shame that she throws her talent away in a show that should have been called Bridget Jones’ Diary². In episode one everything is great, but as of episode two it gets a bit much, partly to do with the fact that apart from her mother, nobody is capable of playing second fiddle, let alone being an equal sparring partner. However, the occasional flashes of genius (a shame that all the “such fun" moments don’t come until season two, mainly in an episode A New Low) are so devastating for your diaphragm that it’s worth clenching your teeth, holding on (bear with... bear with...) and waiting for them to come. You don't need to search for anything sophisticated behind the low rating given to Miranda. It is true that the sitcom humor this time felt somewhat forced and sweaty, but what matters is the impression that Miranda made on me. I could only bear to watch one episode, and since then, whenever I catch a glimpse of Miranda's physical shell and hear her unmistakable voice, a shiver runs down my spine and I switch to something else...
