Justice League: Doom

The problem with this film lies in its seriality; as an extended episode of the series it could be exceptional, but as a standalone film it falls short. Still, the regular need for Justice League hero catchphrases was filled. The opposition this time is the arrogant Batman, Flash is the most entertaining, and of course, the sexiest is Wonder Woman having her regular battle with her ancient adversary Cheetah. However, the overall fun may increase with each rerun, along with the individual characters getting into your system. (26.04.2012)

It seems to me that the quality of DC animated films fluctuates significantly. Compared to Crisis on Two Earths, this one is a weaker installment. I expected a more solid plot, but it seems to have remained on paper, as the story was very predictable. There was an overabundance of action, and you can't really complain about the lack of it because there’s always something happening, and the characters barely have a moment to pause. However, the filler between the action scenes wasn’t exceptional. The dialogues sometimes seemed profound, carrying some message and emotional weight, but overall, they were rather average. There were a few moments that sent shivers down my spine and left an emotional impact (for example, the scene on the skyscraper rooftop where Superman is shot with a kryptonite bullet), but these were just drops in the ocean and weren’t enough for me. Batman deserved more screen time; it felt like, even though everything was happening because of him, he was not featured prominently. The bomb scene at the end felt really over the top. But it still stays within the storyline of Justice League: War. I give it 63%. (08.12.2017)
