Brooken suunnitellessa pakoa tahollaan, Barry rynnistää pelastamaan siskonsa. Barry törmää kuitenkin toiseen selviytyjään ja parivaljakon toiminnantäyteinen taistelu lihanhimoista hirviölaumaa - ja Australian rutikuivaa aavikkoa - vastaan vasta alkaa. (Atlantic Film Fin.)

englanti It's not your typical horror movie; comedy is definitely in the mix. But that didn't bother me one bit; there are times when I can appreciate dark humor, even amidst flying bits of human anatomy and bodily fluids spraying everywhere. The Australian filmmakers turning their population into zombies while giving a nod to Mad Max 2, was quite the entertaining ride for me. I think anyone who's ever delved into Racoon City (preferably on PS1) could find some enjoyment here, but I wouldn't recommend it to viewers who don't have a taste for straightforward gore flicks. / Lesson learned: If you don't have blood type A- and you spot a falling star, don't panic. It might not be what you think... yet. ()

englanti Spectacularly made, fast-paced, full of gore and conceived as a crazy horror comedy (sub)genre film, Wyrmwood is a zombified Mad Max with an Australian outback accent, a few cool ideas and a handful of demented ones. ()

englanti A refreshing, dynamic and fun zombie ride from Australia. A lot of nice ideas plus fierce action and editing. In the “low-budget splatter” category it’s basically perfect. For me it has only two (and not totally unimportant) problems: the incredibly annoying aboriginal guy and the climax that, compared to the events thus far, is a drop in quality rather than an improvement. I simply didn’t care about that last fight in the forest. ()

englanti Hey nigga what was the budget, 100 dollars huh? Fuck you!! Intellectuals are surprisingly excitedly tickling their balls, but the reason is unknown. The eternally criticised aspects in today's horror films such as illogical character behaviour, a script written on the back of a napkin, or the complete lack of atmosphere are surprisingly not criticised here. I'd also love to get the stuff that almost everyone gets when they watch this absurdity. However, I'm going to criticize something else entirely, which is primarily the very inappropriate, amateurish, at times almost unwatchable look with very awkward costumes, also very unlikeable characters, dysfunctional humour and corny one-liners. The zombie make-up effects are horrible with digital smoke evaporating from the mouths. And the gore wasn't even there, no I won't consider the half hour of After Effects work as excellent when it was botched, ketchup instead of blood, well, just insolence of the highest caliber. A 1970's movie, considering this is 2015. I felt embarrassed. The gore is crap, the visuals are crap, the characters and zombies are crap, everything is crap. Crap. 30% ()

englanti After decades of stagnation, the zombie horror genre is getting some new blood in its veins. The film’s tagline, “Mad Max meets Dawn of the Dead”, is by no means an exaggeration and the result is an adrenaline rush that artfully disguises its low-budget roots and wins the hearts of viewers with its uniqueness, avoidance of the usual formulas and, to a large extent, the local Australian specificity that further refreshes the narrative together with the innovative treatment of the zombie-apocalypse concept. englanti Wyrmwood is, first and foremost, a very well-executed piece where you get the gritty scenes you expect, there's dirtiness that fits in perfectly, and there are excellent zombies and heroes you can root for, even though they're not Hollywood heartthrobs. I like the naturalism of the film, plus you get some pretty original ideas, which isn't seen too often these days. The Australians show that horror is definitely close to their heart. Gradually, I'm starting to like their work more and more. ()
