Lissa ja Rose ovat 17-vuotiaita tyttöjä, jotka käyvät lukiota monien muiden 17-vuotiaiden tapaan. He eroavat muista siten, että Lissa juo verta ja heidän lukionsa on salainen sisäoppilaitos rauhantahtoisille Moroi-vampyyreille ja heidän suojelijoilleen! Rose on yksi suojelijoista ja puolustaa Lissaa hinnalla millä hyvänsä. Epäonnistuneen pakoyrityksen jälkeen tytöt päätyvät kaikkein vaarallisimpaan paikkaan: vampyyriakatemiaan! Kansainvälisiin menestyskirjoihin perustuva elokuva on toistaiseksi omaperäisin vampyyrielokuva! From the promising storyline supported by a promising book series, only a surprisingly roughly chopped omelet remains, though the impressions remain largely positive. With the impossibility of keeping up with the escalating mythology, with three twists and two new characters in every other five-minute segment, everything lies on the beautiful Zoey Deutch, because the wooden Danila Kozlovskij, the heavily overacting Olga Kurylenko, and the unremarkable princess don't help her much. However, the main heroine, as well as the less successful and insufficiently soaked in sarcasm scenes, handles it with ease, which, combined with cool action and a strong frequency of lines, is absolutely sufficient. However, if I were to seek logic in the sequence of the plot, I would have to burst far more.

It was clear from the start that this movie wouldn’t be any sort of miracle. It's stylized like Twilight, which isn't very good, but I guess that's how it goes. What I liked more here, though, was at least that there was some effort to turn it into a bit of a thriller, or at least a detective story. Towards the end, it unnecessarily becomes convoluted, and actually, it's somewhat clear from the beginning who the killer is. Still, it seemed to me that there was at least a hint of effort put into it.
