Felix and Meira

Meira is a married mother of a little girl, and an obedient member of an orthodox community of Hasidic Jews. Her husband is very strict and berates Meira for the tiniest "offences," such as her love for secular music. Yet Meira's seeming timidity and deference hide a brave soul, longing for freedom. She explores it with an "inappropriate" friendship with Felix, who perceives her religiosity as an answer to the spiritual confusion that befell him after his father's death. Their growing relationship is a romance told with sympathetic understanding insight into the role of faith in the modern world as well as into the loneliness of both protagonists against the backdrop of the poetically captured Montreal.
