Laura (Rashida Jones) thinks she’s happily hitched, but when her husband Dean (Marlon Wayans) starts logging late hours at the office with a new co-worker, Laura begins to fear the worst. I've come to accept that Sofia Coppola loves her dialogue-heavy films, often about not much of anything, really. Maybe it’s because I’m not a New Yorker, but some of the conversations and opinions in her films just don’t resonate with me. That being said, On the Rocks had a saving grace in Rashida Jones. Sure, I probably wouldn’t have much to chat about with her character, but spending an hour and a half watching her was pretty enjoyable.
