The latest chiller from the creators of the acclaimed A Quiet Place present another deliciously gory scarefest for horror fans to eat up. On Halloween, a group of friends encounter an “extreme” haunted house that promises to feed on their darkest fears. But the night turns deadly as they come to the horrifying realization that some nightmares are real. Horror connoisseurs will sweat, squirm, and relish every splatterific minute of it. englanti A solid horror film for the first time in a while, unrivalled in the slasher genre this year, and the best horror film of the haunted house and theme park kind. This is what Hell House LLC should have been like. A group of friends find a haunted house on the side of the road on Halloween and decide to spend the night there, but they soon find out that the nightmare is real and is going for their necks. Nothing original, but a nice diversion within the genre. The cast of teenagers is unexpectedly decent and no one is downright annoying, the haunted house itself is huge and decently scary, but the biggest plus are the villains, who are terrifying once they take off their already rather unpleasant masks. Their appearance is very disturbing. Fortunately there is a large body-count, so there is some decent gore. I had a great time and I recommend it. 75%. ()

englanti I'm quite ashamed that I missed this for so long, because Haunt is exactly what I like. An excellent, suspenseful, gory teenage variation on Cube, Saw, Escape Room, The Collector and Hell Fest that takes the best of everything and gives us a story about a bunch of young people going to a haunted house for Halloween, but there's a bunch of psychopaths dressed as clowns waiting for them and using all sorts of traps to try and kill them. The idea is original, the characters are likeable (which you don't often see in the genre), the bad guys are creepy and the masks are excellent. There's even a bit of gore, and overall the murder and trap ideas are quite fresh and just plain fun. What sucks is that towards the end the film gets a bit off track in terms of logic, serving up one misstep after another, which spoils the final impression a bit and makes it look a bit silly, but otherwise I can't really complain too much as it was a thrilling ride from start to finish. If the film had held up in the ending and/or delivered some sort of final twist as a cherry on top, I would have been more satisfied, but even so, it's a well-deserved, engaging four stars. For fans of the aforementioned genre flicks, this is almost a must! ()
