The premise here is fantastic, no doubt, but I felt like the execution lacked a bit of originality to really make me say I was watching something truly great. Martin Freeman is solid as always—he's good in pretty much anything he shows up in. The issue for me was more with the camera work. It felt like it was trying too hard to imitate those low-budget German TV shows like Lenssen & Partner all shaky and "immersive," as if you're right there in the action. I found it really distracting. Once I got used to it, I was left thinking the whole thing dragged on a bit too long. They could’ve easily wrapped it up a couple of episodes earlier. The concept is sharp and well thought out, but the execution just felt a bit too familiar. (11.11.2020)

Generally speaking, I always like to watch film stories based on true events, if only because I often learn something I had no idea about before. But with A Confession in particular, I was a bit bored at times. Moreover, I was not completely satisfied with the final trial, as it could have been a bit more elaborate. On the other hand, I have to admit that the craftsmanship is very good. With the overall rating, however, I'm going one star lower than I originally intended because it's one of those series you watch once and that's it. (65%) (08.11.2020)
