englanti The Year of Living Dangerously had a solid cast, with a young Mel Gibson really shining. But throughout the film, I kept expecting something big to happen—like it was building toward showing the true chaos of Indonesia. I was waiting for that twist the whole time. I even dozed off during the last fifteen minutes, and when I went back to finish it later, still hoping for that dramatic shift, I was shocked—it never happened. In the end, the film left me with a pretty negative impression. It’s set in an intriguing, unique environment, but despite the initial appeal, it never delivers anything gripping. Instead, it just dragged and ended up being pretty dull. A real shame. ()

englanti A romantic story against a background of revolution in Indonesia with all the regular pluses and minuses of the genre. Occasionally exaggeratedly languishing sequences contrast with great acting performances. Young Gibson is flawless and mainly Sigourney appears in an untraditional guise. But they are dominated by Linda Hunt in the role of Billy. Not a bad movie at all, maybe a bit slow. In any case, Weir can do better. ()
